DISCUSSION - OLD BUSINESS
San Gabriel River Water Quality:This has been a Board project for some time,Recently
a ten mile section of the river from Firestone Blvd, to the ocean was placed under
quarantine for swimmin.g and recreational use due to a bacterial spill, This lasted for
several weeks. Grayson,~ho has been actively following our project, reported in some
detail regarding the present status, It would appear that a worth-while contact has
been made to secure data the Board felt would be useful. Grayson will continue to
follow this lead,
Projects: Grayson reported on another project he has been active in for some time and
will keep the Board informed if there are any new developments, Willson reported on
assig~ment he was given at the last meeting and it was agreed no Board action is needed
at this time,
- NEW BUSllTESS
Off-shore Airport: Data had been received by some Board members regarding the proposed
off-shore airport. This consisted principally of the report by the Southern California
Association of Governments entitled "Draft Environmental Impact Report:for Draft
Regional Transportation Plan Amendment: Aviation Element July 1980". There was a,_,general
discussion of existing environmental pToblems with nearby airports and their impact on
Seal Beach, Potter, who:had reviewed the submitted data, gave an in-depth report of the
inadequacy of the environmental impact data, Other Board members felt that Board action
could not be taken until all members had a chance to study the submission, In the mean-
time the Chairman will attempt to determine what the Council may require form the Board,
It was pointed out a number of public hearings are being held in various locations
by BCAG,
