ST0903 SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The City Council is asked to approve the plans and specifications for the Beverly Manor Road Street Improvement Project No. ST0903 and authorize staff to solicit bids. BACKGROUND: In January 2008, Leisure World opened a new entrance on Beverly Manor Road. The new entrance reduces congestion at the main entrance on Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain. Since then, there has been significant additional vehicle traffic, bicycle traffic and pedestrian activity along Beverly Manor Road. Several residents and employees in the nearby area have concerns with the existing street conditions and lack of sidewalks and bicycle facilities. The project proposes to reconstruct the street in most areas, install sidewalk, curb and gutter and a Class 2 bicycle lane. A street cross section and engineers estimate are attached. On the April 14, 2008 City Council Meeting, Council added the Beverly Manor Road Street Improvement Project No. ST0903 to the five year capital improvement plan. The complete bid package has been prepared and is ready to solicit bids. Agenda Item L Page 2 FINANCIAL IMPACT: In the approved 09/10 Budget, $950,000 of General Funds has been allocated for this project. .
