DISCUSSION - OLD BUSINESS
EPA ~iaison Project: The Chairman reported at length on his further investigation
of the Board1s inability to obtain needed information from this AgencY,r~rticularly
in regards to the use of PVC materials in water storage. It was decided to again
address a letter to the Water Resources Board at Sacramento regarding the info~nation
required. A copy of the EPA Journal, which is a monthly publication, was briefly
reviewed and it was decided to subscribe since it appears to be an excellent source
of information on a variety of environmental problems.
Asbestos Coatin~ Project:It was reported that no answer has been received concerning
the two letters the Board has written regarding a request for inspection s(rvices.
After thoroughly discussing this matter,it wa~ decided to again t~ to contact John
Ripple of the State OSHA since it would appear that he is the logical person to handle
this matter.
Public Hearing Project: There was a lengthy discussion, particularly concerning the
publicity to be released. The Chairman and the Secretary had submitted for Board
review possible statements. Both of these were approved with only minor revisions.
The fO~lat of the Hearing was discussed and the theme decided on was -the Board is
here to listen". We will attempt to steer away from conclusions, avoid argur.:ents, -
and limit lengthy discussions. The audience will be assured that their comments and
suggestions will receive full attention by the Board in regular meetings. Kolb will
furnish a suitable ~hart showing the present projects being considered by the Board.
Board members were reques'ted to be present no later than 7: 00 p.m. on the night of
the Hearing to make sure everything was in order.
