WI~REAS, the week of October 3-10, 2009, has been designated '
as "Fire Prevention Week" by the National Fire Protection Association and
the International Association of Fire Chiefs; and
WI~REAS, Fire Prevention Week is designed to focus attention on
the varied and technical services offered by fire departments in the
United States and Canada, with special emphasis on fire prevention
services, such as inspections of businesses, schools, hospitals and rest
homes; pre-fire planning of commercial and industrial facilities; and to
acknowledge that today's firefighters and support personnel are
technically trained and highly-skilled professional public servants; and
WFIEREAS, Fire Prevention Week emphasizes the importance of
increasing public awareness of fire danger through fire safety education,
and focuses on the wide range of fire prevention community education
programs available and presented throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, this year's theme, "Ready! Sets Go!" focuses on
providing residents with vital information on how to protect their homes
from wildfires: and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Fire Authority is placing emphasis
on Fire Prevention Week by conducing an Open House on October 3,
2009, at its headquarters facility in Irvine and at several of its fire
stations located throughout Orange County on October 10.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE PROCLAIMED that the City of Seal
Beach, does hereby recognize the week of October 3 - 10, 2009 as

and the City of Seal Beach encourages its residents to attend the Open
House events at either the OCFA headquarters facility in Irvine on
October 3, 2009, or at one of the participating fire stations on October
10, 2009.
