ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Agency Member Laszlo referred to a recent news article relating to
the Seal Beach Trailer Park and distributed copies of a written
communication proposing questions to be addressed in an audit of the
Trailer Park and suggesting auditing firms to conduct the audit. The
Executive Director stated a report had recently been provided the
Agency estimating the cost of an audit to be $5000, at which time the
Agency had discussed this matter and determined to delay the audit
pending receipt of additional information from the developer. Agency
Member Gray recommended that at least ten to twelve auditing firms be
contacted to obtain estimates of cost and procedures for the audit.
The Executive Director stated a detailed and lengthy report had been
received from the developer regarding construction costs in the Trailer
Park, as requested by the Agency. Agency Member Seitz requested copies
of that report be provided the Agency and the auditing firms contacted.
Mr. Courtemarche clarified that the Agency has the option of selecting
the auditing firm of their choice and are not obligated to go through
the bidding process. Discussion followed. It was the order of the
Chair with consent of the Agency, that the Executive Director contact
the city's auditing firm, Diehl, Evans and Company, regarding cost,
suggested items to be addressed in the audit, and report those findings
to the Agency at next meeting.
Mr. Jeffers, Trailer Park resident, spoke regarding rent increases and
requested his concerns be presented to the Appeals Board. Mr. Scheele,
22 Cottonwood Lane, referred to rental and subsidy payments and complained
about the availability of the Trailer Park management personnel.
