Staff Concerns
Mr. Curtis indicated he had two briefitems. First, the May 7, 1996 Minutes are nearly
complete, they will be available at the next meeting. Second, regarding the leaf blowers,
the City will be conducting a class for licensed gardeners after the City sends out its
business license renewals. This class will be put on by a member of the City's parks
division in either September or October. Mr. Curtis indicated staff would prepare a report
back to the City Council after the class has been carried out.
Board Concerns
Ms. McGuire discussed problems we are having regarding funding for water reclamation.
Are there any programs or grants we could look into for fundingi? She'll get back with
staffin a couple of weeks to check into this matter. Also, she expressed concerns with the
Airport Land Use Commission. Once a year the AICUZ report can be revisited. She
wants to know when the public can comment on the AICUZ studyii.
Mr. Christ asked how the City of Seal Beach interacts with the City of Long Beach. Do
they have an EQCB in their City? Do they have a separate water quality board in their
cittii? Mr. Curtis indicated he would find out whether such boards exist and report back
at the Board's next meeting.
Mr. Hurley indicated he found a report in his packet that wasn't included in the agenda. It
deals with the Los Alamitos channel status report dated June 10th. Mr. Curtis indicated it
would be placed on the next agenda.

Dr. Rosenman discussed future items for discussion. Should the Board forward a letter to
Dave Hood congratulating him? Mr. Curtis indicated Mr. Hood would receive a plaque at
the next Planning Commission meeting. He will read a brief"thank you" from the Board
at that meeting. Second, what is the Board going to do with the water issue now? Maybe
the Board could a report to the Planning Commission and City Council.
The Board agreed to add consideration of what to consider next regarding the water issue
at a future meeting.
Mr. V ace asked which agencies deal with water coming into Seal Beach? What are their
areas of responsibility? He discussed a mosquito problem on the Hill that originated in the
Gum Grove. Mr. Voce discussed the Coastal Commission's consideration on the fate of
it's staff director Peter Douglas. Should the City write letters to the Coastal
Commissioners in support of Mr. Douglas? Mr. Curtis indicated he believed that Mayor
Forsythe and Councilmember Hastings had already written to the Commission.
