HomeMy WebLinkAboutRDA Min 1984-01-23 1-23-84 Seal Beach, California January 23, 1984 The Redevelopment Agency of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 6:45 p.m. with Chairman Laszlo calling the meeting to order with the Salute to the Flag. ROLL CALL Present: Chairman Laszlo Agency Members Brownell, Grgas, Risner, Vanderstaay I Absent: None Also present: Mr. Parker, Executive Director Mr. Stepanicich, City Attorney Mrs. Yeo, Secretary WAIVER OF READING It was the order of the Chair with consent of the Agency to take no action on the waiver of full reading since there were no resolutions on the agenda for consideration. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Brownell moved, second by Risner, to approve the minutes of the reg~lar meeting of November 28, 1983. Agency Member Grgas stated he would abstain as he was absent from that meeting. AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: Brownell, Laszlo, Risner, Vanderstaay None Grgas Motion carried I Risner moved, second by Vanderstaay, to approve the minutes of the special meeting of January 9, 1984. AYES: NOES: Brownell, Grgas, Laszlo, Risner, Vanderstaay None Motion carried ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Chairman Laszlo declared oral communications open. Agency Member Brownell requested an update of the financial status of the Redevelopment Agency. The Executive Director reported that Riverbeach has begun to pay the tax increment to the Agency, originally estimated at $100,000, that amount now revised to $157,000, and that the first installment of that payment, $79,000, has been received, the second installment due in April. The Executive Director reported current estimates show that Agency revenues will exceed expenditures by at least $150,000 for the fiscal year, therefore it is anticipated the Agency will be able to make some repayment to the City's General Fund by the end of this year. With regard to Surfs ide Colony, Mr. Parker reported that $125,000 is due to be repaid in three annual installments with the first payment due in January, noting that a bill has been forwarded to Surfs ide for $39,000, I which reflects a reduction for any tax increment that the Agency has collected. The City Attorney clarified that the Surfside debt is secured to the Agency by a Deed of Trust from the Homeowners' Associat.ion. With regard to the Riverbeach condominiums, the Executive Director reported further that permits have been issued for approximately two-thirds of the units and that approximately nine have been sold, noting that it is hopeful all units will be built and sold by year end. There were no other oral 1-23-84 communications; Chairman Laszlo declared oral communications closed.
