BG1004 SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The City Council is asked to: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 5975 to formally accept completion of the Tennis Courts Resurfacing Project No. BG1004. 2. Direct the City Clerk, to file a "Notice of Completion" with the Orange County Clerk- Recorder within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance. 3. Direct staff to release retention funds of $4,683.50 thirty -five (35) days from the date of filing of the "Notice of Completion ". BACKGROUND: On December 14, 2009, City Council awarded a contract to California Surfacing Co. in the amount of $45,435 for the Tennis Courts Resurfacing Project No. BG1004. The scope of work consisted of surfacing twelve asphalt tennis courts, repairing cracks and holes, and leveling depressions. In addition, windscreens were furnished and installed throughout the Seal Beach Tennis Center facility. Due to the low bids, two additional windscreens were added to the project that needed to be replaced. Construction is now completed and the City Engineer has accepted the project. Agenda Item Page 2 FINANCIAL IMPACT: In the 2009/10 Budget, $60,000 was allocated for the Tennis Courts Resurfacing Project. The original bid amount was $45,435. The final construction cost of the project is $47,005. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 5975 to formally accept completion of the Tennis Courts Resurfacing Project No. BG1004. 2. Direct the City Clerk, to file a "Notice of Completion" with the Orange County Clerk- Recorder within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance. 3. BG1004 (SEAL BEACH TENNIS CENTER) WHEREAS, on December 14, 2009 the City of Seal Beach entered into a contract with California Surfacing Co., Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has determined that the work has been substantially completed in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: Section 1. That the work required to be performed by said Contractor has been completed. Section 2. That the total cost of said work is $47,005. Section 3. That the work is hereby accepted and approved. Section 4. It is further ordered that a "Notice of Completion" be filed on behalf of the City in the Office of the Orange County Recorder within ten (10) days of the date of this resolution.
