None.
VIII. Staff Concerns
Mr. Whittenberg reported that the Hellman Ranch has received the Coastal Permit to begin the
archaeology investigations on the property. He said that Staff has provided the Notice to
Proceed to KEA Environmental to begin field investigation work. He stated that KEA should be
on the property beginning Monday, February 12,2001, with the fieldwork lasting approximately
4 weeks. He invited the Committee members to visit the site. Member Fitzpatrick asked if this
investigation would be similar to the one completed on the Boeing property. Mr. Whittenberg
stated that this investigation would be more intensive. Member Vesely asked if the members
could "drop in" to visit the site if they were in the area. Mr. Whittenberg responded that
members wishing to visit the site should first contact his office to arrange for clearance to visit
the site. Member Vesely suggested the Committee schedule a time to meet at the site for a
visitation. Mr. Whittenberg recommended scheduling the visit for Monday, February 26,2001 at
3:00 p.m. The committee members were in agreement with this proposal. The Director of
Development Services stated that once he has received the approval from the archaeologist, he
would draft a reminder memo to be mailed to the Committee members.
Chairperson Willey stated that she would like to have a copy of the textbook California's
Gabrielino Indians by Bernice E. Johnston. Members Vesely and Fitzpatrick also requested a
copy.
