HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC AG PKT 2010-11-08 #K AGENDA STAFF REPORT DATE: November 8, 2010 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council THRU: David Carmany, City Manager FROM: Sean Crumby P.E., Director of Public Works SUBJECT: SUMMARY OF EXPENDITURES FOR $5 MILLION CITYWIDE PAVING ALLOCATION SUMMARY OF REQUEST: Receive and file update to the $5 million Citywide Paving Allocation. BACKGROUND: In December of 2008 the City Council allocated $5 million to be spent on paving improvements throughout the City. An Ad -Hoc Committee in conjunction with the 2008 Pavement Management Plan recommended streets to be rehabilitated throughout the City. This report will summarize the expenditures of activities related to this allocation. A summary of the projects and expenditures is as follows: Date of Notice of Project CONTRACTOR Final Project Cost Completion Local Paving — All American College Park East Asphalt, Inc. November 8, 2010 $1,823,359.83 Town Street Tree Master RMA Plan International, In Progress $56,810 Inc. Total $4,355,242.28 • • This is the largest street rehabilitation project that has been undertaken by the City and is a significant accomplishment. A balance remains of $644,757.72 from the allocation. Agenda Item K Page 2 In June of 2010 the City Council expressed a desire to construct medians in Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue. These medians have been designed and ready for construction since 2006. In October of 2010, the City of Seal Beach successfully secured a Transportation Enhancements Grant to construct medians within Seal Beach Boulevard (PCH to Bolsa) and Lampson Avenue (Seal Beach Boulevard to City Limits). A breakdown of the financing for these two projects is as follows: Estimated City Maximum projected City Project Project Required Grant Cost Cost Contribution Amount Seal Beach Boulevard - $ 500,000 26% $ 388,500 $ 130,000 Medians Lampson Avenue - Medians $ 850,000 42% $ 500,000 $ 357,000 Total $ 487,000 Currently funding has not been allocated for the City required matching contribution to receive the grant funds. It is recommended that the remaining allocation from the $5 million be used for this purpose. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: This project has complied with all requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act. FINANCIAL IMPACT: No action at this time.
