DATE: September 27, 2004
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
THRU: John B. Bahorski, City Manager
FROM: Mark K. Vukojevic, P.E. Interim Director of Public Works /City Engineer
SUBJECT: AYSO SOCCER FIELD USE AT ARBOR PARK - BUDGET
AMENDMENT
SUMMARY OF REQUESTS:
The proposed City Council action will adopt Budget Amendment 05 -04 for the use of the soccer
field at Arbor Park by the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).
BACKGROUND:
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) presented a $14,000 check to the City
Council at its September 13, 2004 meeting as part of the use agreement between the City and
AYSO for the use of Arbor Park. AYSO also presented an additional $2,000 requesting
additional asphalt paving at the drive approach to the field. A budget amendment is required for
the depositing of these funds into the Parks expenditure account and City Council is being asked
to consider this request. This funding will be used for the routine landscape maintenance of the
Park and the Public Works Department will construct an additional $2,000 of improvements to
the drive approach.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budget amendment 05 -04 will increase the Landscape Maintenance Division budget by $14,000.
The current cost to maintain Arbor Park including the Dog Park is $16,000. No general fund
impact is associated with this action.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt Budget Amendment 05 -04 for the use of the
soccer field at Arbor Park by the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).
