AGENDA REPORT 0 II
• 1
DATE: June 14, 2004
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
THRU: John B. Bahorski, City Manager
FROM: June Yotsuya, Assistant City Manager
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 1525 AMENDING
CHAPTER 5.25 (AMBULANCE SERVICES) OF THE SEAL
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Adopt Ordinance Number 1525, an Ordinance of the City of Seal Beach amending Chapter 5.25
of the Municipal Code establishing procedures and standards for ambulance transportation
services within the City.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council introduced this ordinance on May 24, 2004, and the ordinance is now under
consideration for final adoption by the City Council. The new ordinance contains language
recommended by the Orange County Fire Authority, who selects ambulance services on behalf
of its member cities, including the City of Seal Beach. The updated ordinance more accurately
reflects the selection process followed by the OCFA, both in the past and currently.
The City Attorney has reviewed the proposed ordinance language and recommends approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is minimal fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council waive further reading and adopt:
"ORDINANCE NUMBER 1525 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA AMENDING CHAPTER 5.25 (AMBULANCE SERVICES)
OF THE SEAL BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE ".
