Bahorski, City Manager FROM: Pamela Arends -King, Director of Administrative Services /Treasurer SUBJECT: BUDGET AMENDMENT ADJUSTMENT SUMMARY OF REQUEST: Staff requests City Council approve budget amendment 04 -29 for fiscal year 2003/04 for increases in wages and benefits due to the negotiated MOU changes to Seal Beach Police Management Association and Police Officer's Association employee groups, and other wages and benefits costs increases. BACKGROUND: As Staff reviewed the expenditures incurred thus far and projected for the remainder of the fiscal year 2003/04 it was noted that current budgeted amounts for wages and benefits were insufficient to cover the projected fiscal year 2003/04 expenditures. The negotiated MOU changes to the Police employee groups retroactive to July 1, 2003 increased the expenditures for both wages and benefits. Furthermore, tuition and unemployment benefits were not budgeted in the original budget due to the uncertainty of the amounts. FISCAL IMPACT: The total budget amendment increases General Fund expenditures $175,965. Approval of the amendment would decrease the General Fund's undesignated estimated fund balance from $3,841,160 to $3,665,195. RECOMMENATION: • City Council approve budget amendment 04 -29 for the proposed budget review adjustments.
