HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC AG PKT 2004-03-08 #A A l "ia��L h isiti ii If i i /// 6 ( it = I S 1 I tottantatton „., Sj ,, A .01,1 ....., ...........48.......„ ....... $ 1tiss,..0 =_ Ifiniiiiiiii 7. ,r {' , ja i WHEREAS, Sunday March 7, 2004 marks the start of Girl Scout _( Week, a celebration of the Nation's preeminent organization for girls, founded by Juliette Gordon - 'G' ^ice,, Low in 1912 in Savannah, Georgia; and E" WHEREAS, throughout its long and distinguished history, Girl Scout councils in Orange County and across the :'14 nation have inspired millions of girls with the highest ,, ti , r 2 >. . ideals of character, conduct and patriotism; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting will lead businesses and communities . to teach girls the skills needed to take active roles in business, math, science and technology careers and to fulfil our country's economic needs; and WHEREAS, through Girl Scouting, every girl grows strong, gains self - confidence and skills for success, and learns her duty to the world around her; and WHEREAS, some fifty million women have enjoyed the benefits of the Girl Scouts program, as an American tradition, for 92 years; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby proclaim the week of March 7 through March 13, 2004 as GIRL SCOUT WEEK in the City of Seal Beach, and further, encourages the commitment of all Girl Scouts toward the goal of increased quality of life for themselves and the community as a whole. IN WITNESS, WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Seal Beach to be affixed this Eighth Day of March in the Year Two Thousand Four.
