This will be the first time voters will be using the new Orange County e-Slate electronic voting system. I write to request that during the month of December you make a brief presentation to your city council to demonstrate the new electronic voting system and show the new three- minute video, "How to Vote Using the eSlate." Since your city council meeting is televised, this presentation will provide significant exposure prior to the first use of the system in the March Primary Election. I will be happy to arrange for the pick -up or delivery of the video and one of our new stand -alone demonstration units, which does not require the larger control unit (JBC). If you would prefer to use the actual voting machines rather than the demonstration unit, I can also accommodate that delivery. Copies of the video are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean for use in the public outreach effort. You may already have one of the systems and a video, in which case no additional equipment will be needed. It is my hope to have the presentations made during December to allow for maximum exposure of the video on the public access channels prior to the March Primary Election. I would also appreciate your assistance making arrangements with your local cable television operator that televises your city council meeting to continue to show the "How to Vote Using the eSlate" video before or during breaks of your council telecasts during January and February. We have already discussed this with the other cable systems. In early January I can also provide you with a 30- second PSA, if you like. It is my hope that you will use the video — again — in this same way in the months prior to the November 2004 Presidential Election. Please contact Dan Wooldridge or Waters & Faubel at 949 - 768 -1600 to let him know if you can help us. If the city council agendas are already full for December, then early January will still be helpful. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Dan Wooldridge of Waters & Faubel, 949 -768- 1600 or me at 714 -567 -7620. Sincerely, even P. Rodermun Interim Registrar of Voters r!°i
