Mrs. Wieder asked that the city provide a priority list of their
needs as it related to County funding for her review. She stated that
Newport Beach and Huntington Beach had received funds for beach sand
replacement and would look into this matter further. Mrs. Wieder
proposed that the County Historical Society could be encouraged to
I
participate regarding Sunset Beach Tower.
Discussion occurred regarding legislation proposed by Assemblyman Mangers
to alleviate the State's action on reducing forestry services to the
counties. Mrs. Wieder discussed the Department of Water and Power site
and was unaware that the city had not had hearings regarding this property
but spoke of the possibility of $450,000 County funds to be matched with
State funds for a county regional park at that site, however since hearings
had not been held at the various appropriate levels of government it would
be premature at this time to discuss use of County funds further.
Mayor Laszlo indicated he would like a copy of the County budget.
Council and Supervisor Wieder discussed briefly the old police
facility for a County branch office. Supervisor Wieder indicated
I
that other facilities used for those purposes have been unsuccessful
in the past.
Clarification of the County regulations and guidelines on the CETA
Program was requested and discussed.
Supervisor Wieder announced that there would be an open house April
20th in the evening at Supervisor's Hall, all the legislators and
councils were invited to attend.
Mrs. Wieder announced she had another appointment at 10:30. It was
the order of the Chair with consent of Council to adjourn at 10:15 a.m.
