Danes P.E., Director of Public Works /City Engineer SUBJECT: WEST ORANGE COUNTY WATER BOARD BUDGET - FY 2003/2004 SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed action will approve the FY 2003/2004 budget of the West Orange County Water Board. BACKGROUND: The City of Seal Beach is a member of the West Orange County Water Board which is the joint powers , agency that owns and operates the water distribution system which conveys water from Metropolitan Water District (MWD) to the Cities of Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Westminster, and Seal Beach. Water from MWD fulfills 25% of the water demand for our City. The total proposed budget for this fiscal year totals $331,000. The Board presently holds $259,473 in reserve and requires only $200,000 as the recommended reserve. Excess reserves in the amount of $59,473 reserves and interest in the amount of $12,000 will be applied towards this years expenditures leaving the total net funding to be divided among the member agencies at $259,527. The City's share is 14.3% or $37,112. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are currently budgeted in the City's 2003/2004 Budget within the Water Enterprise Fund. RECOMMENDATION: Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council: 1.
